The BEST Creamed Corn

Ingredients:

  • 1 (20 oz.) package frozen kernel corn (or 3 cups fresh kernels)
  • ½ C. whipping cream
  • ½ C. milk
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • Dash MSG (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • Pinch white or red pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. flour

Directions:

  1. Combine corn, whipping cream, milk, salt, MSG, sugar and pepper in saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer, covered, 8 to 10 minutes or until corn is thawed and milk is bubbling (5 minutes for fresh corn). (You can cook the corn up to this point and turn off the stove for an hour or two if you want to just finish the corn as you finalize the meal; reheat the corn before proceeding.)
  2. Melt the butter in a separate skillet (or microwave) and stir in flour until smooth. Add to corn mixture and mix well. Heat through (for at least one minute), stirring; then remove from heat.
